The “Vinha do Lado” owes its name to the fact that it is located in a small vineyard plot next to Adega Vila Santa in Estremoz. This is a 1.5ha plot of Tinta Caiada, planted on a south-facing slope with schist soil.
The grape harvest is done manually in 15 kg boxes. The grapes are destemmed and carefully selected on the manual sorting table. After crushing, they are trodden in marble lagares with traditional foot treading. The wine is then transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation is completed. This is followed by 12 days of post-fermentative maceration.
Subsequently, the wine is aged in 300-liter half barrels of 1st and 2nd-year French and Hungarian oak for a period of 12 months.
