Resulting from the combination of grapes riper than usual and human persistence that dares more than it should, this Late Harvest wine is born. It arose from the idea of making a non-fortified sweet wine, quite unusual in the Douro, even more so because it is a red! It was harvested well into November, due to a dry and sunny autumn, which allowed the grapes to gain extra sugar while maintaining a perfect sanitary state. The result was a sweet red wine, with a high concentration of sugar, which was not entirely fermented, remaining in the final wine. It is one of the few, if not the only, red late harvest wines from the Douro.
The grapes are foot-trodden in small stainless steel lagares. They are then pressed, and the must ferments in small stainless steel vats, with fermentation naturally stopping with the cold of winter.
