O Whisky Nikka Coffey Grain é um single grain whisky original, principalmente destilado a partir do milho, num alambique Coffey. Torna-se ainda mais único no sentido em possui maioritariamente milho, como antigamente, enquanto a maioria dos whiskies modernos derivam de trigo. O milho confere ao whisky com uma textura rica e arredondada, e aromas intensos. Este grain whisky é hoje um componente essencial dos blends Nikka. O processo de destilação é contínuo, enquanto que nos alambiques usados para a produção de Single Malts exigem duas destilações separadas. Nikka possui dois alambiques Coffey na sua destilaria Miyagikyo para a elaboração de seus grain whiskies. Importados da Escócia, em 1963, estes alambiques antigos produzem spirits muito redondo, com um caráter distintivo que define os blends de assinatura Nikka.
